    Fundraising/Development Advisor - Board of Advisors (Nonprofit) 

    Reports to: Executive Director / Board Chair

    About Us

    Skills of Life Cafe empowers neurodiverse teens and young adults, including those with mild

    intellectual disabilities, through vocational training in a real-world café setting. Our mission is to

    build inclusive workforce pathways and skills for long-term success and independence.

    Role Summary

    We are seeking a Fundraising/Development Advisor to serve on our Board of Advisors.

    This is a non-voting, strategic role that supports the growth and sustainability of our nonprofit by

    guiding fundraising initiatives, expanding donor networks, and supporting development strategy.

    Key Responsibilities

    ● Provide strategic guidance on fundraising plans, including individual giving, grants,

    events, and corporate partnerships

    ● Advise on donor stewardship and relationship-building strategies

    ● Open doors to new funding opportunities through personal or professional networks

    ● Review development materials (e.g. fundraising appeals, case for support)

    ● Support major fundraising initiatives or campaigns as needed

    ● Coach/mentor the Executive Director or development team on best practices

    ● (Ideally) Participate in or co-chair a fundraising committee

    Qualifications

    ● Proven experience in fundraising, development, donor relations, or philanthropy

    ● Passion for disability inclusion, neurodiversity, or youth empowerment

    ● Strong communication and relationship-building skills

    ● Strategic mindset with a collaborative spirit

    ● Prior board or advisory experience a plus, but not required

    Time Commitment

    ● Approx. 2-6 hours/month (flexible)

    ● Attend 1-2 advisor meetings annually (virtual or in-person)

    ● Available for periodic consultation by phone or email
