    Description

    Heart to Heart/One on One

Act as a best buddy to certain clients. We do various group activities throughout the day, Monday-Friday. While the groups prove to be very stimulating, some clients might want some quiet/one on one time. There are multiple things you could do as a volunteer. You can have a friendly conversation with a client, talking about things such as hobbies. Ask the client where he/she grew up, and then you do the same. We have some clients who tend to wander more. Walk along with them and have a friendly conversation. Even if you do not get many responses, kind words are always a huge comfort.

This is particularly good for our clients who are less cognitively aware, or have more trouble communicating. If you enjoy music, you can play some comforting music for them, or even sing for them. Another possibility is reading them a story. Again, a comforting conversation always helps. Come share some of your heart and kindness!
