In Chatham County alone, there are over 400 children in foster care. All of these children have experienced abuse or neglect. As of today, through the power of volunteerism, we are advocating for about half of these children. Serving every child who needs a volunteer is possible with your help.
We are Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children, a volunteer-powered network of committed people-from all walks of life-who believe society has a fundamental obligation to these children. We are people just like you who believe that every child has the right to be treated with dignity, to be safe, and to thrive in the embrace of a loving family. CASA Volunteers change children's lives. Studies have shown, children who have experienced abuse or neglect are far more likely to find a safe, permanent home with a CASA volunteer by their side.
Volunteer- This is one cause where the actions of a single individual can have a profound impact. You can be an integral part of the solution. One individual, trained and empowered to ensure that every child can thrive. Join us in our mission to ensure that 100% of children in foster care in Chatham County have someone, like you, in their corner.
We are recruiting for Community Volunteer who are willing to Travel to Change a Child's Story. The removal of a child from their home is a traumatic event. Adding to the stress is the fact that only about 30% of children in Chatham County remain near where they grew up when they enter foster care. Due to a shortage of Foster Parents locally, Foster Children often have to move out of county to live with a foster family. We are looking for community volunteers who are able to visit children placed out-of-county on a quarterly basis.
