    Description

We are looking for a talented HR co-lead to manage a team of 10+ members working on a wide range of human resources projects. The name “HR team” doesn’t encompass everything that we do, as in fact our umbrella covers most projects at the European level of Volt that involve recruitment, onboarding, volunteer management, team development, conflict resolution, policy implementation, and fostering a diverse and inclusive culture.

    About the position

You will work closely with our other HR co-lead to coordinate the work of the team members, while also getting hands-on experience when your expertise is needed for a specific project. Do not worry! Our current co-leads have very different backgrounds, which only made our team stronger. HR experience is helpful (certain skills are also required) but we do not expect you to be an expert in every field. If in doubt, apply!

    You will

    • Shape and lead Volt Europa’s HR strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization’s pan-European, volunteer-driven structure.
    • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes across all teams, ensuring consistency, engagement, and knowledge retention.
    • Maintain and improve HR infrastructure, including databases, role documentation, and compliance with GDPR.
    • Build internal HR capacity, by training team leads, mentoring new HR contributors, and sharing scalable best practices.
    • Continuously evaluate and improve HR systems, using feedback and data to adapt processes to changing needs.

    You are…

    • Someone who’s helped shape or implement HR strategy in a remote-first, mission-driven organization, ideally in the NGO or volunteer sector.
    • Comfortable managing onboarding and offboarding processes across multiple teams and time zones, and know how to keep things human even when async.
    • Highly organized and experienced with maintaining HR infrastructure like databases, documentation, and GDPR-compliant records.
    • A natural enabler, you build capacity in others, whether that’s through training, mentoring, or simplifying complex HR processes.
    • Always iterating, you believe feedback and reflection are key to improving systems and sustaining engagement over time.

    You have

    • A passion for Volt’s vision, mission, and policies
    • Fluency in written and spoken English
    • Communication skills: at Volt Europa you will deal with professionals and volunteers from all backgrounds and all corners of Europe. Good communications skills are therefore required as well as cultural sensitivity.
    • Working independently and self-motivated: we provide a large amount of freedom. This means you are in charge of your own schedule and will have to plan accordingly.

We know these skills are in high demand and not always easy to find, so if you’re unsure, apply anyway! To apply, please upload your CV, a one-page cover letter, and a short introduction using the form below.

Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to email us at humanresources@volteuropa.org. This is a volunteer unpaid position.

    Apply here!

Volt Europa actively seeks a diverse applicant pool and encourages candidates of all backgrounds to apply. Volt Europa does not discriminate on the basis of disability, age, gender identity and expression, national origin, race and ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or criminal record. We welcome all kinds of diversity.

Get the chance to improve your skills in human resources and project management with a large community of like-minded volunteers from all over Europe!

If you are not a member of Volt, you will be asked to become a member as part of onboarding. If you already want to become a member (great idea!), go to: https://volt.team/join.
