    About Teenagers Center for Awakening(TCA)

    Teenagers Center for Awakening (TCA) is a dedicated Refugee- Led Community- Based Organization (CBO) operating in the heart of Kakuma refugee camp and Turkana West, Kenya. Our unwavering mission is to empower teenagers aged 12-19 by addressing their unique needs and fostering their holistic development. We achieve this through comprehensive teachings, hands-on vocational training, and crucial psycho- social support programs. Our ultimate goal is to ignite potential, cultivate sustainable livelihoods, and create lasting positive community impact for these young people who are building their futures in challenging circumstances.

    The opportunity

    We are seeking a passionate and proactive Remote Fundraising Volunteer to join our team and play a pivotal role in securing vital resources for our programs. As a fundraising volunteer, you will be instrumental in helping us reach a broader audience of potential donors and partners, directly enabling us to expand our reach and deepen our impact in Kakuma. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause from anywhere in the world, leveraging your skills to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable youth.

    Key responsibilities

    • Research and prospecting: Identify potential individual donors, foundations, corporations, and grant opportunities aligned with TCA's mission.
    • Grant writing support: Assist in drafting, editing, and reviewing grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other fundraising communications. (If this is a specific skill you're looking for, emphasize it).
    • Campaign development: Brainstorm and help implement creative remote fundraising campaigns such as online campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising, virtual events.
    • Donor outreach: Support the development of communication materials for potential donors, helping to craft compelling stories and appeals.
    • Database management: (Optional) Assist with maintaining donor records and tracking fundraising activities.
    • Reporting: Assist in tracking fundraising progress and preparing report.

    Who we're looking for

    • A strong passion for youth empowerment, education, and community development, especially in humanitarian contexts.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate a compelling case for support.
    • Strong research skills and attention to detail.
    • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, non-profit development, or marketing/communications is highly desirable but not strictly required – a willingness to learn and contribute is key!
    • Proficiency with online communication tools such Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.
    • Ability to commit to 3-5 hours per week for a minimum of 6- 12months.
    • Fluent in English and French.
