    Our Mission:

    We are building a Gen Z-led movement seeking to empower young leaders to advocate for transformative policy and bold political action, predominately at a state and local level. We are committed to a bottom-up movement that prioritizes the needs of the communities we represent and seeks to reclaim our future by advocating for social, economic, environmental, and other kinds of political reform.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    This position is considered an administrative role and reports to the Executive Director, which calls for high attendance expectations. The organization's Deputy Director is expected to regularly attend the charted events hosted by the organization, and aid the Executive Director in his or her workload and day-to-day duties on a delegation basis. The organization's administrators are also expected to meet routinely, at a date and frequency determined by the Executive Director. In addition, the Deputy Director serves as the top advisor to the Executive Director, assisting in the development and implementation of business strategies, organizational policies and managing budgets. Due to the remote nature of work at Beyond the Ballot, this position can be performed in different time zones than the organization’s central branch.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION:

    • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or technical school preferred

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 1 year of community or relational organizing experience on behalf of an established nonprofit, campaign or project.
    • Preferably, a minimum of 1 year experience in a supervisory or administrative position, or any position that supervised a team member or group of team members.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Attend events hosted by the organization, including traveling to sponsored or chartered events;
    • Facilitate the work of the organization by attending various charted events (both self-assigned and recommended/delegated by the Executive Director) to build and maintain the organization’s network and public image;
    • Create and promote good employee morale and relations;
    • Provide direct support to the various members of the organization's leadership & administration;
    • Overview daily operations;
    • Research and identify new business opportunities;
    • Seek new business tools and methods;
    • Collaborate with other executives, administrators and members of leadership to decide on business strategies;
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and local, regional and federal regulations;
    • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

    Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods.

    Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.

    Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between various in-person working environments. Will require travel to multiple sites.
