    Description

New England Justice for Our Neighbors serves most of Massachusetts, providing free, expert legal services to low-income immigrants seeking humanitarian-based visas. Many of the roles in our organization are staffed by volunteers. At this time, we are seeking an Intake Coordinator.

The Intake Coordinator is responsible for monitoring the client inquiry voicemail box for their region, conducting intakes or assigning them to other volunteers, and ensuring that all clients receive follow-up information via email, phone, or text as needed. The Intake Coordinator also trains new intake volunteers as necessary, meets with the Executive Director via Zoom as necessary, and attends monthly Coordinator meetings via Zoom.

Intakes themselves are straightforward. When we receive an inquiry, the intake volunteer assigned to the potential client arranges a phone call with the client to collect information and explain our process. The intake volunteer also schedules the client's appointment with an immigration attorney.

All activities for this position can be done remotely and at the volunteer's (and clients') convenience. The Intake Coordinator must be available when people in the Eastern time zone would be available. This role will likely take 5-7 hours/month.

    The following skills are required:

    1. Technically competent (Will use GoogleDocs, Google Voice, a translation app, Gmail, and texting.)
    2. Able to manage and train intake volunteers, assign them tasks, and follow up as necessary
    3. Speaking a non-English language is a plus but is not required

The job requires speaking with people about extremely difficult personal situations and experiences.

We encourage people of all backgrounds, including immigrant backgrounds, to apply.
