    Description

    Fluent in Minds is a youth-led organization dedicated to improving the accessibility of mental health care and awareness of mental health to those who do not speak English. Our volunteers translate mental health care information to lower language and stigma barriers to professional help.

    The Translation Directors will liaise between the language departments and executive team. They will work with Language Department Leads and translators to contribute to lower language barriers to mental health information. The importance and impact of mental health are only nascent topics of discussion, especially among immigrant and non-English-speaking communities. Healthcare information is often technical and accurate translations are critical to effectively benefiting communities.

    We are looking for TWO directors for each of the following languages. Current language departments include:

    • Mandarin Chinese
    • Cantonese Chinese
    • Punjabi

    Responsibilities and tasks:

    • Make executive decisions about the development and management of Language Teams
    • Develop meeting and communication strategies for Language Teams
    • Make hiring decisions about Language Team Leads
    • Liaise between Language Team Leads and the Executive Team on structural and substantive updates
    • Hold Language Team Leads accountable to deadlines and quality, regularly following up with progress
    • Maintain clear and active communication

    General requirements

    • Significant time management and commitment
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Cultural awareness and sensitivity
    • Leadership skills and or experience
    • Language skills and interests are an asset
