    Description

    Position Overview:

    Iron Village Preparatory Academy is seeking a passionate and experienced volunteer Mandarin instructor to work with students in grades K-4. The Mandarin instructor will facilitate two 30-minute sessions per week, fostering an immersive and interactive environment for young learners to engage with the language. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in teaching and make a lasting impact on students' language development. There is potential for this role to grow into a paid position in the future.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead two 30-minute Mandarin lessons per week for K-4 students
    • Create engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans that emphasize listening, speaking, and basic vocabulary
    • Use interactive methods, games, and songs to make learning fun and effective
    • Promote cultural understanding alongside language acquisition
    • Monitor and assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
    • Collaborate with other educators to integrate Mandarin into the broader curriculum
    • Attend a once-a-month planning meeting with school staff to discuss student progress and upcoming lessons

    Qualifications:

    • Fluent or native Mandarin speaker
    • Experience teaching or working with young children (K-4)
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Ability to engage and motivate students in a fun, inclusive environment
    • Previous experience with language teaching or a teaching certification is a plus

    Additional Information:
