    Description

    Lead Camp Counselor Volunteer for our summer program:

    Volunteer Position: Lead Camp Counselor

    Location: Sapphire Youth Development Center

    Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Flexible shifts available)

    Campers: 10–12 elementary school students

    Start Date: July 7th

    End Date:August 1st

    Position Overview:

    Do you have a heart for children and a desire to make a lasting impact? Join us as a Lead Camp Counselor Volunteer and help guide a small group of elementary school campers through a summer of growth, creativity, and fun! This leadership role is perfect for passionate, responsible, and energetic individuals who are eager to support and inspire youth in a structured and nurturing environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the primary point of care and leadership for a group of 10–12 campers
    • Lead and support daily camp activities including arts, academics, recreational games, and character-building sessions
    • Ensure camper safety and well-being at all times
    • Assist in managing camper behavior with positivity and consistency
    • Coordinate with staff and other volunteers to maintain smooth transitions and group engagement
    • Set the tone for kindness, teamwork, and respect among the group
    • Communicate any concerns or incidents promptly to camp leadership
    • Background check required

    Qualifications:

    • Must be 18 years or older
    • Experience working with children preferred but not required
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
    • Patience, energy, and a positive attitude
    • Willingness to commit to at least one full week of service (5 days)
    • Ability to pass a background check

    Hours & Commitment:

    Camp runs from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday–Friday. While full-day volunteers are greatly appreciated, any amount of time you can commit—even just a few hours a day—makes a difference!
