    Description

    Volunteer Engagement Lead

About Us: Your Hearing Dog Inc. (YHD) is a nonprofit dedicated to training and providing hearing service dogs at no cost to individuals with hearing loss. Our mission runs on compassion-and on volunteers who give their time and talent to support this cause.

Role Overview: We’re looking for a kind, organized, and people-savvy individual to join us as a Volunteer Engagement Lead. You won’t be managing projects-you’ll be building relationships. Your main goal? Help our volunteers feel recognized, included, and motivated to stay involved-even when there isn’t an immediate project. You’ll help keep that sense of community alive by staying in touch, coordinating soft check-ins, and letting folks know when new opportunities pop up.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Check in monthly with active and recent volunteers just to say hi, share appreciation, and offer updates
    • Coordinate volunteer outreach for new opportunities (e.g., intranet build, design help, events)
    • Maintain a lightweight tracking system of volunteer interests and past contributions
    • Assist in screening new volunteer applicants (light HR-style engagement: "We saw your interest-here’s how you could help!")
    • Collaborate with our core team to improve the volunteer experience
    • Make sure no one falls through the cracks-and that people feel they’re part of something meaningful

    You’d Be Great If You:

    • Enjoy connecting with people and making them feel appreciated
    • Are friendly, empathetic, and a natural communicator (email and Slack/Zoom preferred)
    • Are comfortable juggling a few light touchpoints per week (5-8 hrs/month)
    • Can organize basic info in a spreadsheet or doc (no HR software needed!)
    • Care about inclusion, accessibility, and helping others feel like they belong

    Why Join:

    • Be part of a compassionate mission that directly changes lives
    • Help volunteers feel more connected, seen, and supported
    • Collaborate with a kind-hearted, dedicated, and flexible team
    • Learn more about nonprofit volunteer coordination-on your own time
    • Know your effort helps power life-changing service dog training and placement
