Volunteers provide support to families that are caring for a loved one with dementia or a disabling condition. The Center’s Caregiver Support Program provides two services:
1) companionship to someone who should not be left alone.
2) respite or "time off" for primary caregivers who need to focus on their own health and well-being.
Respite volunteers can visit or share activities for 2-4 hours with someone coping with chronic conditions including stroke, Alzheimer’s, MS, and visual impairment. Volunteers are generally given a steady assignment to a particular family to develop relationships.
