    Heartland Hospice - Butler MO - Seeking Hospice Volunteers

    If you have a passion for serving others, becoming a hospice volunteer can be a fulfilling and meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of others. Hospice volunteers are the heart of hospice and help patients and families make the most of every moment. Our volunteers serve in many ways including visiting with patients and families, assisting with tasks in the office, and working with special projects.

    Some of our volunteer opportunities include:

    • Patient visits for companionship and support
    • Spending time with patients while their family runs errands
    • Assisting with household chores or errands
    • Supporting patients and families in the patient’s last hours
    • Providing veteran to veteran support
    • Providing specialized services such as pet therapy or reiki with appropriate certifications
    • Making tuck-in phone calls to patients or their family to make sure they have supplies, medications, and support that they may need
    • Assisting with bereavement program tasks, bereavement support groups, and memorial services
    • Assisting with administrative or clerical tasks in the office such as answering telephones, assisting with mailings, putting together packets or training manuals, and more
    • Working on special projects such as making quilts, blankets, fidget aprons, birthday cakes or cards, and more

    o Teens between the ages of 16—17 may also volunteer in the office with administrative

    tasks.

    Volunteer days and times are flexible! Please contact me directly with any questions or if you are interested in learning more about our volunteer opportunities. All volunteers receive the training and support needed to carry out their assigned duties.
