    Description

    What an amazing opportunity to be part of a grassroot initiative that would not succeed without the help of volunteers just like you. Each volunteer contributes to a continuum of assistance which lifts the standard of living for impoverished local communities in the areas of education, health, and sustainability (women’s empowerment, conservation, and income generating activities).

    The volunteers will help;-

    • Working with community to improve opportunities for children to access quality education and healthcare services.
    • Supporting women's groups and youth groups in various activities (financial literacy, financial management, business management, family planning and budgeting, gender violence reduction, etc)
    • Assisting locals (women and children/ youth) make their crafts and sell them to tourists
    • Educating and helping locals on improving hygiene and sanitation, promoting health (mental health, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, etc) education,
    • Promoting community health, disease prevention and personal hygiene
    • Organizing children's programs such as teaching English and Maths, talent shows, singing, dancing, sports, art, games, etc.
    • Helping to promote community / eco-tourism and conservation including working on community clean-ups
    • Expanding community goals and planning future projects

    ELIGIBILITY AND BASIC REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants are required to fulfill the requirements;-

    1. Be 16 years or older, unless approved by PARC-Uganda

    and accompanied by an adult.

    1. Speak and read basic English

    VOLUNTEER DURATION:

    Minimum time for placement and stay is 1 week but staying more longer is most preferred.

    ENTRY INTO UGANDA.

    Volunteers enter in Uganda through Entebbe International Airport, which is is approximately 45 minutes to 2 hours to Kampala is the capital city of Uganda depending on traffic.

    TRANSFER FROM AIRPORT, KAMPALA TO KASESE

    PARC-Uganda will pick volunteers and transfer the to Kisinga in the Kasese District, about 500 km south west of Kampala.

    Cheapest option (Public transport): There are airport taxis to transfer travelers from Entebbe to Kampala for approximately 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on traffic, and it there are buses that drive about 6 - 8 hours from Kampala to Kasese. There are taxis that drive for about 1 hour from Kasese to Kisinga

    Convenient but expensive option (Private transport): PARC-Uganda arranges a private hired vehicle to pick volunteers from the airport and transfer them directly to project site.
