    Description

    • Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness is Now Hiring Field Instructors*

Orientation sessions held Tuesday–Thursday throughout each month | Rolling applications accepted

Since 2002, Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness has helped teens (12–17) and young adults (18–30) reset, reconnect, and thrive. Based in the North Georgia and Western North Carolina mountains (HQ in Clayton, GA), we combine evidence-based therapy with immersive wilderness living to spark lasting transformation.

    What You’ll Do:

Live and work outdoors 8 days on, 6 days off (Tues–Tues). As a Field Instructor, you'll guide students through a journey of growth—managing safety, leading discussions, teaching backcountry skills, and helping them understand their values and choices. You’ll backpack, bow drill, cook over fires, hold strong boundaries, and support students through breakthroughs.

    We Provide:

    • Experiential training before you start
    • Ongoing mentorship + biweekly professional development
    • Opportunities for advancement and WFR certification
    • Supportive community and staff culture

    Perks + Pay:

    • $150–$215/day (based on experience)
    • Health, dental, vision + 401K w/ 4% match
    • PTO starts on Day 1
    • Gear discounts + dog-friendly field shifts (with approval)
    • Annual bonuses

    What You’ll Need:

    • 21+ years old
    • HS diploma or undergraduate degree
    • First Aid, CPR/AED
    • Physically fit to hike w/ 25+ lbs
    • Clear drug, background, and physical screenings

    Preferred but not required:

Experience with youth, mental health, outdoor living, teaching, or group leadership.

Live nearby? Awesome. Live farther? No problem—just know we don’t provide housing on off-days. Many of our field instructors commute from Asheville, NC and other surrounding areas.
