    Internship Overview

    Lilypad Strategies seeks a Spring 2026 Communications & Marketing Intern to support client and internal projects. You’ll collaborate closely with the founder and project leads, gaining hands-on experience across strategy, content, media relations, and analytics.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support research and development of communications and marketing plans
    • Maintain media lists; draft pitches, briefing memos, and talking points
    • Draft and edit emails, blog posts, op-eds, and social content (short- and long-form)
    • Track and report performance across website, email, social, and earned media
    • Assist with content calendars, light design (e.g., Canva), and asset organization
    • Jump in on other PR/marketing tasks as needed

    Qualifications

    • Coursework or experience in communications, journalism, public affairs, public health, nonprofit management, or related fields
    • Prior internships or campus roles in communications/marketing, student media, advocacy, or nonprofit work
    • Excellent writer and editor with a keen eye for structure, clarity, and tone
    • Strong research skills; ability to synthesize information into actionable insights
    • Experience with one or more: Canva, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Google Analytics, Hubspot, Zapier, basic SEO, basic HTML formatting
    • Media relations exposure (reporter research, pitch drafting, list building)
    • Proficiency with Google Workspace
    • Familiarity with major social platforms and basic content scheduling
    • Organized, reliable, proactive; can manage details and deadlines in a fast-moving environment
    • Commitment to equity and ethical communications; professionalism with sensitive topics (e.g., health, justice, public policy)

    Position Details

    • Title: Communications & Marketing Intern
    • Location: Remote, with weekly in-person working sessions in the Washington, DC area at a mutually agreed location.
    • Start Date: Monday, January 5, 2026
    • End Date: Friday, May 1, 2026
    • Schedule: 20 hours per week (10:00 AM–2:00 PM ET, Monday–Friday)
    • Compensation: $18.00 per hour
