Wells of Hope is a one-of-a-kind community walk and cultural experience rooted in solidarity, ancestral wisdom, and global connection. Participants known as Water Bearers join in a powerful walk along the Bronx River — carrying water in honor of those who must journey daily for this vital resource. This symbolic yet physical act highlights global water injustice while supporting efforts to bring clean, accessible water to Congolese villages through well-building initiatives. The event concludes at Bronx Forest, where participants gather for a vibrant cultural exchange of Congolese music, dance, food, and ancestral learning — honoring our shared humanity and practicing true reciprocity. Wells of Hope invites people of all backgrounds to take part in an act of shared humanity, grounded in the African value of Ubuntu: “I am because we are.”
