Launched in 2018, DJC works to remedy the impacts of mass incarceration and build just, thriving cities. We deliver community lawyering services, create economic opportunities, and advance systemic change. We are seeking a Policy Advocate who will drive systemic change by advancing DJC’s campaigns for criminal justice reform, community reinvestment, and housing equity.
The role will work across various issues, including housing justice, community reinvestment, prioritizing reforms such as bail, fines, and fees, and clean slate initiatives to promote systemic change. The Policy Advocate will conduct comprehensive policy analysis, develop strategic advocacy initiatives, and foster partnerships with stakeholders, including DJC attorneys, advocacy staff, coalition members, and community partners.
This is an 18-month grant-funded position with the potential for renewal. This position is hybrid, requiring regular in-office presence in Detroit (minimum three days per week).

The target salary for this role is $70,000 - $75,000. DJC operates a 4 day work week, prioritizing work-life balance and the well-being of our team.
