    Location: Hybrid - Washington, DC (2–3 days/week in office, Wednesdays required in office day)

    Type: Full-time, Temporary (through September 30th, with potential for extension)

    Schedule: 35 hours/week, early-release Fridays during summer

    Pay: $30/hour

    Position Summary

    We are partnering with a public health nonprofit on a temporary Development Associate opening. The Development Associate plays a critical role in supporting donor stewardship and data integrity through accurate gift processing, donor acknowledgments, and database management. This position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset. While experience with Raiser’s Edge is preferred, we are open to training candidates who are tech-savvy and have strong critical thinking and organizational skills.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Accurately process all donations, including online gifts, mailed checks, and pledges, using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge
    • Generate timely donor acknowledgments, including mail merges, review and quality control, and coordination with both internal staff and external vendors
    • Manage the tribute gift process, ensuring proper documentation and timely communication with families
    • Monitor the donations email inbox and respond to donor inquiries with professionalism and care
    • Serve as the main point of contact for all donation-related questions internally and externally
    • Assist with mail handling and occasional backup support for office operations
    • Run and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports for internal stakeholders; produce ad hoc reports as needed
    • Support data imports and ongoing maintenance to ensure clean, accurate records
    • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies or issues through troubleshooting and collaboration with the team
    • Help maintain and update internal task guides to support continuity and onboarding of new staff

    Qualifications

    • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge is preferred; experience with Luminate Online or Fundraise Up is a plus
    • Strong computer proficiency and comfort learning new systems; database experience required
    • Familiarity with donor databases, gift processing, or fundraising operations strongly preferred
    • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Word (mail merge experience required)
    • High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills
    • Collaborative team member who is also self-directed and dependable
    • Ability to handle sensitive donor information with confidentiality and care
    • Availability to work in the DC office 2–3 days/week, including Wednesdays
