    Description

    A national nonprofit organization focused on advancing academic nursing and healthcare education is seeking a Government Affairs & Policy Manager to support and manage a wide range of government relations and public policy initiatives. This individual will play a key role in legislative tracking, stakeholder engagement, policy analysis, and strategic communication with Capitol Hill and federal agencies.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Manage day-to-day activities related to legislative and regulatory tracking, including analysis of congressional and agency updates relevant to the organization's federal policy agenda.
      • Draft and edit policy materials such as legislative letters, testimonies, comment letters, one-pagers, and briefing documents.
      • Attend congressional hearings, briefings, and meetings with federal stakeholders; provide detailed written or verbal summaries.
      • Monitor congressional and administrative activity and collect information relevant to the organization’s advocacy goals.
      • Develop complex reports and conduct critical analysis of health and higher education legislation and regulations; contribute to the design and content of policy briefs, fact sheets, and state-specific materials.
      • Draft content for advocacy alerts and member communications.
      • Support coalition, committee, and consortium activities, including drafting materials and attending meetings.
      • Contribute content for a regular policy newsletter, as well as for social media and other advocacy communication tools.
      • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree
      • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in government affairs, Capitol Hill, policy analysis, or a similar role within a nonprofit, association, or government setting. This is not an entry-level position.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
      • Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with Canva and InDesign is a plus.
      • Occasional travel may be required.

    Hybrid/Full Time Direct Hire

    Salary: $75k-$85k
