    Description

    The National Disability Institute (NDI) seeks a highly motivated and passionate Research Intern to join our team. You will play a crucial role in supporting our research team's efforts in disability research using data science and community-based participatory research methods and approaches. You will report to the Research Director and work across teams to help measure and report NDI’s impact, distill key learnings, and explore and test novel research ideas across the field.

    This is a part-time remote position, with occasional extended hours to meet deadlines. NDI operates in the Eastern time zone. Applicants from other time zones are expected to align their work schedule with their supervisor.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

      • Disability Research: Conduct research on disability-related issues, with a focus on financial empowerment and inclusion.
      • Quantitative Research: Contribute to data collection, analysis, and interpretation using quantitative research methods.
      • Qualitative Research: Assist in collecting and analyzing data including conducting interviews, focus groups, and other qualitative research.
      • Data Entry and Management: Assist with data entry, data cleaning, and data management tasks.
      • Community Action Participatory Research: Collaborate with community members and subject matter experts to identify research questions, collect data, and analyze findings.
      • Literature Reviews: Conduct literature reviews to identify relevant research and literature on specific topics.
      • Report Writing and Presentation: Contribute to writing research reports, policy briefs, and other publications, including designing presentations and visual analytics.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in data science, research, economics, sociology, or a related field.
      • Strong interest in disability and economic empowerment research.
      • Excellent data analysis skills.
      • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organized records.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with remote teams.
      • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., SAS, SPSS, Atlas. Ti, NVivo, ArcGIS, Power BI, Tableau).
      • Experience with qualitative research methods (e.g., interviewing, focus groups, ethnography).
      • Human subjects research, PHRP, or CITI certification preferred.
