    Social Media Intern - Bay Area Creative

    About Us and position summary

    Bay Area Creative is an arts education nonprofit empowering youth through spoken word poetry, hip hop dance, visual arts, and mural workshops. We partner with schools and community organizations to provide transformative arts programming led by 30 professional teaching artists with a combined Instagram following of over 120,000. Our work serves 14,000 people a year. The Social Media Intern will support Bay Area Creative’s digital storytelling and community engagement efforts. Working closely with staff and teaching artists, the intern will help share student work, highlight reels, and event content across social platforms. This is a hands-on role ideal for a creative, detail-oriented individual eager to build skills in nonprofit marketing, branding, and arts advocacy.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Curate and post engaging content (photos, videos, reels, stories) across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook
    • Assist with developing a monthly content calendar and scheduled posts with Hootsuite highlighting events, student work, and artist features
    • Support short-form video editing (Reels/TikTok) and basic graphic design for posts
    • Track analytics and engagement to recommend growth strategies
    • Research and implement social media trends to increase reach and impact
    • Collaborate with teaching artists to amplify their content and audiences

    Qualifications

    • Interest in arts, education, and community storytelling
    • Strong familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, and short-form video trends
    • Basic skills in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or mobile editing apps (preferred)
    • Strong writing and communication skills
    • Organized, reliable, and collaborative

    Commitment & Compensation

    • 10–15 hours per week, flexible schedule (remote)
    • Internship runs [Fall 2025 / Spring 2026 or TBD]
    • School credit available
