    Description

    Data Analysis Intern

    Organization: The Housing Collective

Reports to: Data & Impact Manager

    Location: Hybrid

    Status: Part-Time

    THE HOUSING COLLECTIVE:

The Housing Collective is a CT-based nonprofit agency that applies a Collective Impact framework to deliver solutions to the most pressing housing problems. Focused on ending homelessness and creating equitable housing opportunities for all, the Housing Collective provides the leadership and support that enables productive, regional collaboration across organizations and sectors, and drives systems change.

Formerly known as Supportive Housing Works, we have worked since 2004 to align communities and resources around collaborative regional responses to homelessness and housing affordability. Our two core initiatives, Opening Doors and the Centers for Housing Opportunity, provide leadership and facilitate the strategic coordination of hundreds of housing and homelessness organizations in multiple geographies, forming a “backbone” for the housing system throughout Western CT.

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Innovation Lab is an initiative of The Housing Collective (HC) dedicated to maximizing the power of data, research, and lived expertise to find innovative solutions to housing instability and homelessness in Connecticut and more broadly. HC’s Innovation Lab is rooted in curious inquiry, rigorous analysis, and inclusive action. The Lab combines technological innovation, data analysis and visualization, lived experience, equity-rooted storytelling, needs analyses, system modeling, training and technical assistance, and participatory action research to end homelessness and create equitable housing opportunities for all in Connecticut.

The Data Analysis intern will work closely with the Lab staff (Data and Impact Manager and Interim Director) to manage, organize, and analyze Lab data across all Housing Collective efforts. This will include survey responses, client information, housing data, and more. Intern may be asked to collaborate with Lab staff to prepare data visually for presentation to stakeholders.

This position is designed for a student or early-career professional looking to develop their skills in data analysis in service of community good.

This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with real-world housing data and analytics while receiving mentorship and skill-building support from experienced professionals.

This is a part-time internship requiring approximately 15-20 hours per week for the summer internship and 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, with flexible scheduling options. The role may be remote or hybrid, depending on organizational needs and the intern's location. Compensation of $20 per hour is provided.

Fall internships run from September through the end of December; Spring internships run from February to May; and Summer internships run from May or June through August or September.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Analysis Intern will play a vital role in driving system change and improving programs by delivering meaningful data insights to key decision-makers. By transforming raw data into clear, actionable information, they will support policymakers, service providers, and community advocates in making informed, equity-focused decisions that strengthen housing systems and enhance service delivery.

    Manage, Organize, and Analyze Data

    • Gather Data: May include conducting surveys, pulling reports from HMIS or smartsheets, or locating datasets from regional, state, and national databases.
    • Clean Data: Review data for duplicates, errors, or outliers. Prepare data in spreadsheets, pivot tables, or simple reports for Lab and Housing Collective staff. Ensure that data is of high quality and that the results are accurate.
    • Model Data: Assist in creating clear visualizations in answer to questions being asked by Housing Collective staff and partners

Additional projects and job duties may arise or be created depending on the intern’s interests and Housing Collective’s needs.

    • Commitment to the success of the Innovation Lab and The Housing Collective
