    Young STEAMers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children from underserved communities to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). Our programs blend academic content with creativity and real-world applications, sparking curiosity, building confidence, and empowering students to see themselves as future innovators.

    Internship Overview

    We are seeking enthusiastic STEAM Instructor Interns to support our after-school and weekend programs for elementary and middle school students. This is a unique opportunity to gain teaching, leadership, and community engagement experience while making a meaningful impact on young learners.

    Interns will receive training, curriculum support, and mentorship from experienced educators. Successful interns may be considered for paid instructor positions with Young STEAMers in the future.

    Who We’re Looking For

    We are seeking enthusiastic, creative, and compassionate yound adults who love working with children and are passionate about education equity. If you’re someone who lights up when sharing the wonders of science, encourages kids to explore boldly, and thrives in an environment where learning is playful and hands-on—we want to meet you!

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead interactive and fun STEAM sessions for children ages 4–14 in small group settings.
    • Foster a welcoming, encouraging learning environment where all children feel seen and supported.
    • Serve as a mentor and role model, nurturing curiosity and confidence in young learners.
    • Collaborate with our team to refine and enrich curriculum, bringing your own creativity and ideas to the table.

    Qualifications

    • Passion for STEAM education and working with children.
    • Experience working with children in educational or enrichment settings (teaching, tutoring, mentoring, camp counseling, etc.).
    • A strong foundation in a STEM field; experience in the arts or interdisciplinary work is a plus.
    • Enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine love for teaching and inspiring young minds.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with children from diverse backgrounds.
    • Dependable, punctual, and professional.
    • Experience with kids (tutoring, teaching, camp counseling, or mentoring) is a plus but not required.
    • Available to start immediatly
