    Founded in 1989 as a 501(c)(3), Housing Development Fund (HDF) is a community development financial institution. HDF’s mission is to facilitate the development of affordable rental and homeownership opportunities. We accomplish this by helping households become and remain owners of affordable homes, as well as financing affordable rental opportunities for low- and moderate-income households. By providing free counseling and unique lending products to first-time homebuyers and developers, HDF helps families achieve housing stability.

    Salary Range and Terms:

    Range: $85,000-$105,000. This is a permanent position at HDF. This position is remote with a preference for Connecticut or New York residents who can come to the Stamford office 2-4 times monthly.

    The Commercial Accounts Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting and guiding HDF’s commercial lending activities in support of our mission to create more affordable rental and homeownership activities in Connecticut. The Commercial Accounts Manager supports the Director of Commercial Lending in reviewing, underwriting, approving, closing, and monitoring all commercial loans made by HDF and with our consortium of bank and philanthropic partners. The Commercial Accounts Manager will also play a leading role with advancing new technologies within HDF’s Commercial Lending Department to maximize efficiency and grow our portfolio in alignment with our strategic plan.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Support the Director of Commercial Lending in providing preliminary review of new loan applications including collecting, reviewing and analyzing the appropriate documentation required regarding the property, borrower/owner, guarantors all third-party reports and other application materials.
    • Analyze construction budgets and cash flow including DSCR and Global DSCR and establish an affordable housing requirement based on HDF’s guidelines.
    • Assist the Director of Commercial Lending with guiding loans through the underwriting, approval and closing process including managing document collection and review with the Director of Commercial Lending, legal counsel and borrower, recordation and file organization of materials.
    • Plan and manage HDF’s annual audit process including requesting, collecting, reviewing, analyzing and logging all necessary documentation from all commercial borrowers.
    • Regularly monitor all loans for delinquencies with HDF’s finance and lending team.
    • Assist the Director of Commercial Lending in managing reporting and meetings for HDF’s banking partners on a monthly basis.
    • Identify and partake in professional development opportunities of choice for education and career advancement.

    Qualifications:

    • Commercial banking experience and/or experience working with or for Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) required.
    • Applicants with commercial underwriting experience strongly preferred.
    • Motivation, passion, and commitment to the mission of Housing Development Fund
    • Substantive professional and/or personal knowledge of areas addressed by Housing Development Fund strongly preferred.
    • Personal qualities of integrity and credibility and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and fostering effective working relationships.
    • Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong technological proficiency and agility in Microsoft Office programs especially Excel, Sharepoint, and other efficiency tools including Google forms.
    • Ability to adapt to and maximize benefits of new technology including AI and commercial lending software.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
