    St. Luke’s Lutheran Church – Midtown Manhattan (Hell’s Kitchen)

    Start Date: August 2025 | 24 hours/week | In-person

    St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, a vibrant faith community with a historic presence in Midtown Manhattan, is seeking a part-time Church Administrator to be the communication and operations hub of our ministry.

    In this role, you’ll support the Pastor and coordinate with staff to ensure smooth daily functioning of our church office and vital outreach programs. You’ll handle everything from preparing Sunday worship bulletins and scheduling volunteers, to maintaining donor records and submitting soup kitchen stats to city partners.

    This position is ideal for someone who thrives on keeping things organized, managing details, and contributing meaningfully to a progressive Christian mission of welcome, compassion, and justice.

    🛠️ Responsibilities:

    • Serve as administrative assistant to the Pastor and liaison among church staff and community.
    • Manage phone, email, mailings, supplies, and building access.
    • Prepare weekly worship bulletins, e-newsletters, prayer lists, and Sunday materials.
    • Maintain digital church calendar and update website (no coding needed).
    • Schedule Sunday readers and assisting ministers; coordinate flower dedications.
    • Maintain congregational database and assist with donor mailings and annual reports.
    • Oversee logistics for our weekday soup kitchen: volunteers, stats, compliance, and funding paperwork.
    • Foster hospitality at the church office and ensure smooth coordination with city inspectors, partner orgs, and building tenants.

    ✅ Qualifications:

    • Experience in office administration, nonprofit, or church settings preferred.
    • Strong organizational, written, and interpersonal skills.
    • Comfortable with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and learning new tools.
    • Team-oriented with high integrity and a heart for mission.
    • Spanish language ability and/or bookkeeping knowledge is a plus, not required.

    💼 Details:

    • Hours: 24/week, including Mondays 10–2, Tuesdays & Thursdays 10–4, Fridays 10–2, all on-site. The remaining 4 hours may be off-site or on-site.
    • Salary: $25 per hour.
    • Benefits: Paid holidays, sick days, and vacation. No health insurance.
    • Based in our church offices at 308 W. 46th Street, Manhattan, next to Times Square.
