    A part-time role for a versatile communicator excited to support marketing, outreach, and program execution at a mission-driven nonprofit in the travel industry.

    Position Overview

    Travel Unity is seeking a Digital Marketing Assistant to support a range of activities that increase the organization’s visibility, strengthen partner engagement, and assist with program execution.

    This role is ideal for a strong writer and adaptable team member comfortable with a mix of marketing, outreach, research, and support work. You’ll help implement our communications strategy, manage digital platforms, and assist with storytelling, case studies, and cross-functional projects. You will also help support scheduling, tracking, and other organizational priorities as needed.

    To succeed in this role, you will need to be proactive, creative, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-moving environment where responsibilities may evolve over time. Flexibility, fast learning, diligence, and initiative are absolutely essential to success in this role.

    You’ll report to the Executive Director and work closely with other team members. This role offers room for growth for a candidate eager to take on increasing responsibilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    Communications & Marketing

    • Create compelling content (e.g., blog posts, social media, press releases) to promote Travel Unity’s programs, partnerships, and impact.
    • Manage digital platforms, including our website, social media, newsletters, and additional tools as needed and agreed upon with the Executive Director
    • Ensure consistent voice and branding across all channels.
    • Develop and update marketing collateral and promotional materials.
    • Document internal processes and maintain up-to-date records related to outreach, programs, and communications.
    • Track analytics and engagement data to inform strategy.

    Stakeholder Engagement & Program Support

    • Develop and share member-facing resources, benefits, and storytelling materials to highlight Travel Unity’s impact.
    • Engage speakers, media, and attendees by coordinating outreach, follow-ups, and tailored communications.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to capture and disseminate impact stories from youth and workforce programs.
    • Support outreach efforts to recruit and retain Travel Unity Alliance members.
    • Represent Travel Unity at select virtual or in-person industry events.
    • Conduct research and manage scheduling and administrative tasks as needed.

    Required Qualifications

    • 2–4 years of experience in one or more of the following - communications, marketing, public relations, or related fields.
    • Excellent, proven writing and storytelling skills across platforms (e.g., social media, email, blogs).
    • Experience managing social media, newsletters, and digital outreach tools.
    • Proficiency with Mailchimp (or similar), Google Workspace, Slack, and project management tools (e.g., Asana).
    • Familiarity with design platforms (e.g., Canva).
    • Familiarity with updating website copy and images.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage priorities independently.
    • Experience using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) for content or workflow support.
    • Comfortable with remote collaboration via Zoom, Google Chat, etc.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Background in the travel, tourism, or hospitality industry.
    • Nonprofit or mission-driven experience preferred.
    • Familiarity with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), especially in a travel or community context.
    • Experience working with neurodivergent individuals and/or in fast-paced, adaptive environments.
    • Familiarity with fundraising, donor relations, or sponsorship development.
    • Familiarity with partner or stakeholder engagement.

    Time Commitment & Location

    • Part-time, hourly role with a maximum of 20 hours/week to start. Our goal is to find a strong candidate who can evolve into a full-time position.
    • Work and availability should generally align with U.S. Eastern Time hours.
    • Remote position, with occasional travel for conferences or events.
    • Applicants must be based in New York State. Preference given to those in downstate NY (e.g., NYC, Westchester, Long Island), though not required.

    Compensation

    • $20-25/hr (depending on experience).
