    Description

    Northwest Justice Project (NJP) is a not-for-profit statewide law firm with a mission of Combatting Injustice • Strengthening Communities • Protecting Human Dignity. NJP secures justice for people in or near poverty through high quality legal advocacy that promotes the long-term well-being of low-income individuals, families and communities through legal representation, community partnerships, education, and other advocacy.

    NJP seeks qualified bilingual (English/Spanish) paralegal committed to support our mission through the work of our Farmworker Unit (FWU). The FWU is a statewide unit that provides legal assistance low-income agricultural workers throughout Washington. This is a regular full-time position covered by NJP’s collective bargaining agreement. This position is funded for one year from time of hire or through December 31, 2026, whichever arrives first.

    The paralegal works under the supervision of a Managing Attorney along with a team of attorneys and will be responsible for conducting investigative and litigation support.

    NJP seeks applicants who have a strong interest in working with farmworker communities and are committed to actively engaging with and serving communities in rural areas. The paralegal must be bilingual in English and Spanish and culturally competent to address the legal needs of farmworkers and their communities.

    Paralegals render civil legal services to eligible clients consistent with the Rules of Professional Conduct. The paralegal is expected to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of the Northwest Justice Project, as a public service entity, and to be accountable to and maintain constructive, professional working relations with the clients, the legal community, and the community at-large. The paralegals will exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of their job duties.

    Level of Language Proficiency
