    Youth Justice Network (YJN) was founded in 1990 to anchor, support and build capacity among young people released from jail in New York City. We break cycles of incarceration and promote an equitable justice system by providing young people with opportunities to grow, thrive, and lead. Through a combination of individualized advocacy, mentorship and services, our network of advocates develops relationships with young people whose lives intersect with the justice system. We leverage authentic relationships and local resources so that young people can forge their pathways to wellbeing and positive development.

    Position Summary

    This position has been established to support the growth of the organization. The position will directly support Youth Justice Network’s grants and contracts administration by ensuring financial integrity and sustainability across all grant-funded programs. Under the direct supervision of the agency’s Director of Finance and Administration, this position will work collaboratively with the Grants and Budget Manager, and the finance team to monitor government grants and private restricted grants. In collaboration with Youth Justice Network’s program and development staff, this position is also responsible for interacting with consultants and subcontractors in the development and monitoring of their agreements with the agency on government grants. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and skilled in nonprofit finance and grant compliance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Budget Management

      • Develop and review grant proposal budgets in collaboration with program and development staff
      • Track and monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with grant budgets and funder requirements
      • Maintain a grants calendar to ensure timely submission of reports, renewals, and proposals, and all required administrative documents.
      • Prepare and submit financial reports for government agencies and private foundations.
      • Liaise with funders and auditors regarding grant-related inquiries and documentation
      • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and city regulations.

    Cross Departmental Collaboration

      • Train and support program staff in budget tracking and grant compliance.
      • Coordinate with the Development team to ensure alignment between grant narratives and budgets
      • Partner with HR and Program personnel to ensure accurate allocation of personnel costs.

    Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
      • Minimum 5 years of experience in nonprofit grants management, budgeting, or financial operations
      • Strong knowledge of NYC and NYS grant regulations and conversant with NYC’s Passport grant management system, and NYS’s Grant Management System (GMS).
      • Proficient in financial software (e.g., FUNDEZ, Sage Intacct, or similar) and Excel.
      • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills

    Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000 per year

    Work Location: New York, New York/ Hybrid: After 3 months, up to two remote days per week.

    Additional office locations in Brooklyn and the Bronx
