POSITION: Pro Bono Manager
DAYS/HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm with one unpaid hour for lunch

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association (VLP) seeks an outgoing, energetic, organized person to coordinate and administer all aspects of our case assignments, advertising, recruiting, and retention of pro bono volunteers. This position will also work closely with the Executive Director and other executive staff to support fundraising efforts.
VLP’s mission is to provide high quality, pro bono legal services in a broad range of civil matters to eligible residents of the greater Boston area, including “Metro-West”; to engage and support the efforts of the private bar in providing pro bono legal services in civil matters; and to engage in constructive collaboration with other legal services organizations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Completion of Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- 3-5 years of experience with communications and volunteer recruitment and retention
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Experience with recruiting, orienting, and retaining pro bono volunteers and interpreters
REQUIRED MENTAL/ PHYSICAL ABILITIES/ EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS:
- Heavy use of computer and web-based programs and applications
- Ability to communicate in person, by telephone and via social media
- Ability to travel to multiple locations in the Boston area
- Experience and commitment to working with a broad range of people, including clients, private attorneys, people with disabilities, and court personnel
- Strong knowledge of online web-based programs and social media outlets
- Careful attention to detail and excellent organization skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
- Experience with gathering and presenting information
- Experience working with Microsoft office, databases, online surveys, scheduling tools, web content editors, and other applications
- Excellent judgment, professionalism, reliability, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Experience generating social media content in a professional setting
- Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot issues
- Ability to be flexible with a sense of initiative

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the organization’s pro bono model for recruiting, training, mentoring, and retaining private bar attorneys
- Manage all aspects of the case assignment process for pro bono volunteers, interpreters, and mentors
- Manage all aspects of recruiting and retaining potential volunteers
- Serve as the main point of contact and field requests for our partners, pro bono volunteers, interpreters, and other programs, agencies, and firms
- Coordinate and attend recruitment, training, and outreach events
- Coordinate and oversee all drafting of newsletter content and distribution
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of content for marketing VLP opportunities, updates, and program changes on our social media channels (VLP website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
- Run reports from case management system
- Manage Internship Project and provide administrative/logistical support for the Summer Unemployment Insurance Project and Internship Project
- Coordinate and attend Senior Partners for Justice Program activities, including organizing monthly meetings and trainings, drafting correspondence, provide weekly reports, and other events as needed
- Maintain VLP’s website and social media presence and create periodic communications to volunteers
- Coordinate and organize information for fundraising campaign and administer aspects of the campaign
- Supervise and oversee duties of support staff within department (Communications Coordinator and/or interns)
- Perform other duties as needed or as directed
