This is a leadership position responsible for advancing one of the Foundation’s top strategic priorities: building public awareness to catalyze next-level fundraising growth.

This role oversees all external communications and digital platforms and will drive compelling storytelling, cross-platform audience engagement, and mission-focused messaging. The ideal candidate will bring extensive nonprofit communications experience and a proven track record of designing and leading content driven campaigns that achieve measurable growth in reach, engagement, retention, and fundraising outcomes—especially in healthcare, public safety, or government-related sectors.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Strategic Leadership & Planning

    • Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership team to position the Foundation as a statewide leader in EMS excellence and innovation.
    • Partner with the Board of Directors to leverage their networks and leadership to broaden awareness, deepen community engagement, and enhance visibility among key stakeholders.
    • Lead the development and execution of a multi-year communications and marketing plan aligned with the Foundation’s strategic plan and fundraising goals.
    • Serve as chief storyteller and brand champion, ensuring consistent voice, tone, and visual identity across all materials and platforms.
    • Set clear KPIs and performance metrics for audience growth, digital engagement, donor conversion, and media visibility; track, evaluate, and report regularly.

    Digital Growth & Content Strategy

    • Create and oversee content marketing campaigns to achieve 10x growth on targeted digital platforms (with a focus on LinkedIn and Instagram).
    • Manage content creation, message testing, video production, and storytelling initiatives across email, social, and web.
    • Oversee the Foundation’s website strategy, design enhancements, SEO/SEM performance, and analytics.

    Media Relations & Public Visibility

    • Build and maintain relationships with local and regional media outlets, identifying opportunities for coverage and editorial placement.
    • Develop media kits, press releases, and talking points to elevate the Foundation’s leadership and advocacy voice.
    • Prepare internal leaders for media opportunities, public speaking, and thought leadership placements.

    Internal Communications & Team Oversight

    • Supervise and mentor the Communications Specialist, guiding project prioritization and professional growth.
    • Work closely with Development and Program teams to align communications efforts with fundraising and program impact.
    • Partner with external contractors (designers, writers, photographers, videographers) as needed.

    POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field required; advanced degree a plus.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in communications and marketing, preferably in nonprofit, healthcare, or government settings.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing content strategy and digital campaigns with significant audience growth and retention.
    • Skills analyzing and evaluating audiences to identify segments that may be overlooked or underperforming.
    • Strong media relations experience and crisis communication skills.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
    • Proficiency in digital analytics, SEO, email marketing, and social media management tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, Mailchimp, WordPress).
    • Proven leadership, project management, and supervisory experience.
    • Strategic thinker with a creative mindset and a roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic.
    • Deep belief in the Foundation’s mission and the life-saving power of pre-hospital emergency care.
    • Comfortable navigating the intersections of public safety, healthcare, philanthropy, and government.

    Work Environment and Conditions:

    • Full-time, exempt position (Monday through Friday with occasional after-hours meeting and event attendance off site).
    • In-office-role located in our Bellevue office.
    • Requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic non-profit environment.

    Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $115,000 - $135,000, comprehensive benefits package, 401k match, generous PTO, and the opportunity to make a measurable difference in the lives of people across Washington State.
