Tsuru for Solidarity (TFS) seeks a Community Organizer who will support the mission of TFS through effective community organizing for two campaigns. This position will be supervised by the TFS Director of Organizing and works closely with campaign leaders and TFS staff. This position works closely with both internal volunteers and stakeholders and external partners and coalitions. A strong candidate has the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively. We would prefer that this position is located in the Bay Area. Travel to TFS events, about 15% of time, is required. Some evening and weekend work is required.
Tsuru for Solidarity’s mission is to educate, advocate, and protest to close all detention sites; build solidarity with other communities of color that have experienced forced removal, detention, deportation, separation of families, and other forms of racial and state violence; coordinate intergenerational, cross-community healing circles addressing the trauma of our shared histories. Tsuru for Solidarity is a program of Community Initiatives.

Qualifications
Strong relationship management, problem solving skills, and ability to work both collaboratively and independently are preferred. A minimum of two years experience in community organizing or a comparable field is required. Familiarity with and understanding of Japanese American incarceration history, anti-racist movements, immigrant rights, abolitionist organizing, and healing justice are preferred. Any multilingual skills (Spanish, Creole, Japanese) are a plus.
Full time salary for this position is between $70,000-75,000, commensurate with experience, as well as the following benefits:
