    The Communications and Grants Associate will provide direct support and report to both Natün’s Fundraising Manager, with a close relationship with the Engagement & Communications Specialist. This entry-level role combines field-based content gathering and digital communications support, alongside assistance with grants research and pipeline management. The position is ideal for someone with strong skills in storytelling and digital content who is eager to learn about grants and donor relations, while helping amplify Natün’s impact with dignity and cultural sensitivity.

    Responsibilities

    Content Creation & Digital Presence:

    • Visit programs and communities regularly to document program and organizational impact through photography, video, and interviews.
    • Maintain a robust content resource library for the organization, including participant testimonials, photography and videography that effectively communicate Natün’s impact.
    • Produce visual and written content for impact stories, blogs, campaigns, newsletters, and social media.
    • Support the development of a content calendar aligned with organizational priorities, and manage social media posts and publications.
    • Design graphics for digital platforms, campaigns, events, and presentations while ensuring brand consistency.
    • Track and report on social media engagement and digital presence, providing analytics reports to inform content strategies.
    • Ensure all communications uphold Natün’s values of dignity, respect, and cultural relevance.

    Grants Research and Support:

    • Organize and maintain the internal grants database.
    • Conduct research on prospective funding opportunities that align with Natün’s programs and priorities.
    • Assist in managing the grants pipeline, ensuring deadlines and outreach opportunities are clearly tracked.
    • Provide background information and research support to strengthen proposals and institutional donor engagement efforts.

    Other:

    • Assist with donor events and site visits, including translating between English and Spanish.
    • Other administrative tasks as required to support the department.

    Profile

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
    • Experience and interest in digital content creation (social media, photography, video, or graphic design); relevant experience may come from internships, volunteer work, coursework, or personal projects.
    • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and experience working in cross-cultural environments.
    • Proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.
    • Comfortable taking constructive feedback and adapting quickly.
    • Ability to conduct regular field visits in rural communities.
    • Interest in researching new opportunities and supporting grants development (previous experience welcome but not required).
    • Interest in learning about Indigenous rights, community-led development and the multicultural context of rural Indigenous communities in Sololá / Guatemala.
    • Passionate about telling stories that honor community leadership, with understanding of dignity-based development communications and ethical storytelling (or willingness to learn).
    • Familiarity with digital content management and social media planning tools.

    The successful applicant will work in Guatemala (location flexible) for a minimum 2-year commitment. We have a flexible working-from-home policy, but a regular presence in the Panajachel office and field (Sololá department) will be necessary.
