    Description

    The Children’s Legal Center (CLC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free immigration legal services to children and their families across Illinois and Indiana who have experienced victimization. CLC has well-established partnerships with domestic violence service centers in Illinois and directly represents clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court. CLC has an immediate opening for a full-time licensed attorney, 3L Law Student or accredited representative.

    Position Description

    CLC is seeking an IL licensed Staff Attorney to join our team devoted to representing children in the immigration process needing multiple legal processes for their immigration relief. The individual would open Domestic and Guardianship processes for clients in any of our current programs in tandem with any other immigration relief we are able to provide them. The Staff Attorney will maintain a direct representation caseload and, through the course of representation, collaborate with other attorneys, mental health professionals, clerks and interns to provide holistic representation to clients.

    Position Requirements

    • Licensed in IL
    • Fluent in Spanish and English
    • Demonstrated interest in immigration law
    • Passion for working with children and families
    • Exceptional organizational skills, strong sense of personal initiative, and ability to multitask
    • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
    • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to be a flexible team player, enthusiasm and high energy for the work
    • Ability to comfortably and appropriately maintain and navigate relationships with governmental agencies, nonprofit providers and other stakeholders

    Compensation

    This is a paid position commensurate with experience. The salary starts at $75,000. The position also includes benefits such as life, medical, vision and dental insurance along with a 401k contribution. Hybrid schedule after 3 months.
