Job Title: Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA) Coordinator

Job Status: Part-Time (15-20 Hours)

Pay Rate: $23.10/Hour

Location: Youth Pride, Inc. Center, Providence, RI

Schedule: Weekday afternoons and evenings (Some weekends for special events)

Start Date Range: Late August to early September.

About the Position:

The Gender- Sexuality Alliance (GSA) Coordinator reports to the Programs and Services Director. This is a part-time position for 15-20 hours per week, with pay of $23.10/hour. Hours occur on weekdays in the afternoon and evening. Some flexibility is required. This is not a remote or work-from-home position.

General Statement of Duties:

• Outreach to Gay/Straight alliances or Gender and Sexuality alliances(GSAs) throughout Rhode Island, and providing school-based training and technical assistance as needed
• Overseeing and facilitating monthly GSA Coalition meetings attended by GSA participants throughout the state
• Overseeing, planning, and facilitating Youth Pride Inc.’s annual GSA Conference
• Providing coverage in the drop-in center, socializing with youth, and creating a safe and accepting culture within the space
• Facilitating or presenting a variety of workshops and other programs in the drop-in center and the community
• Work with coalition partners to educate the GSA community on opportunities for advocacy.
• Creating content for organizational social media channels
• Creating content for YPI Blog and Newsletter
• Supervising interns and volunteers
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Experience working with a diverse population of youth; LGBTQQ youth experience
• preferred
• Knowledge of LGBTQQ issues, intersectionality, systems of oppression, identity.
• Community building, and other topics related to social justice and leadership development
• Experience organizing events and facilitating groups
• Strong organizational skills, including task and time management
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment are essential
• Excellent public speaking skills
• Ability to adapt to a fast-changing and fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
• Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• A successful candidate must pass a background check
• Completed or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Education, Youth Development, or a related field preferred
