    Job Title: Junior Accountant

    Supervisor: Senior Finance Manager

    Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000

    Employment Classification: Full-time/Salaried, Non-Exempt

    Frequency of Pay: Bi-weekly

    The Junior Accountant, who will report to the Senior Finance Manager, will be responsible for the daily operations of the finance department. The department consists of the Senior Finance Manager and third party support. A financial accounting background and the ability to handle a full and diverse workload that spans basic accounting work to complex reconciliations, all with precision and attention to detail is essential for this position. The person in this role will assist in advancing the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the department. Additionally, they will ensure accurate and timely recording and submission of financial data, and provide analysis of data and research. A background in non-profit accounting and operations is a plus.

    Responsibilities:

    • Accounts payable, which includes preparing, coding, and processing invoices and deposits
    • Accounts receivable, which includes creating invoices to customers, processing payments and preparing bank deposits
    • Serve as the point of contact with vendors and customers
    • Record and track revenue from multiple sources, ensuring timely and precise entries into accounting system
    • Conduct comprehensive monthly reconciliations, including the investment schedule and sales tax
    • Prepare and record journal entries for monthly accruals, prepaid expenses and other adjustments
    • Track restricted and unrestricted funds, grants and program budgets
    • On occasion, review and process payroll through payroll portal Paychex, ensuring hours and labor are correctly reflected for approval
    • Assist in the preparation and execution of month-end and year-end close processes
    • Generate regular financial reports (such as recivable/payable status and cash flow updates) for management review to support decision making.
    • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger by ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and classified
    • Support yearly internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, schedules, and explanations
    • Support special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as assigned
    • Assist with various administrative tasks, such as filing documents, managing accounting inbox, ordering supplies and supporting other team members as needed
    • Adhere to financial regulations and company policies, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standard
    • Ensure that all financial records are accurately maintained and easily accessible for review and reporting

    Education, Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent relevant experience.
    • 1+ years of relevant accounting experience in a non-profit environment
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Google Docs.
    • Strong experience with QuickBooks Online
    • Proficiency in BILL (formally Bill.com) and understanding of databases that sync with QuickBooks Online a strong plus
    • Demonstrated initiative, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize tasks to deliver high-quality results on time
    • Familiarity with payroll administration, i.e. reviewing and processing biweekly payroll; knowledge of Paychex a plus
    • Familiarity with various payment processors (Stripe, Shopify, Toast)
    • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP principles
    • Previous experience in a non-profit environment is a plus
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team
