    The Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) is adding to its team! ACU is a fast-growing organization filled with mission-driven people committed to improving the health of America’s underserved populations and supporting the clinicians serving these populations. We’re looking for someone equally committed to that cause who can help support ACU’s National Health Workforce Collaborative.

    The Associate Director will lead the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement activities, training events, and educational materials relating to the mission of the National Health Workforce Collaborative, a project of the Bureau of Health Workforce, operated by Abt Global and ACU. The Workforce Collaborative serves as a central hub for all stakeholder engagement activities to ensure integration and coordination throughout the Bureau of Health Workforce (BHW) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The Institute will work to improve communication and outreach, stakeholder engagement, amplify impact, and enhance workforce training, recruitment, and retention at community-based training sites, especially in areas experiencing health workforce shortages.

    The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-directed, proficient in time management, and possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills. The ideal candidate has expertise in stakeholder engagement, meeting facilitation and workforce matters such as health professions education and training (HP-ET) and recruitment and retention in rural and underserved areas.

    This position will report to ACU’s Vice President, Workforce Development.

    Location: ACU Headquarters is located in Washington, DC. This is a remote position. You must reside in one of the following states: Washington DC, Virginia, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah

    Responsibilities

    Provide Direction and Support for the Workforce Collaborative

    • Serve as ACU’s lead for all activities relating to the health workforce training and technical assistance institute (National Health Workforce Collaborative) contract. Provide day-to-day direction to Workforce Collaborative activities and deliverables for the ACU team, in concert with leadership and program staff from Abt Global.
    • Compile monthly and quarterly project reports for BHW Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
    • Work across ACU and Abt teams to ensure activities for multiple project tasks are developed and delivered on-time to ensure project deliverables are met, including annual project task plans, reporting requirements, etc.
    • Adapt to changes in federal and BHW priorities and support adjustment to project activities as required.
    • Maintain awareness of emerging and innovative practices in health workforce development, training and education, recruitment, retention, and support to inform project activities.
    • Lead the development of an annual stakeholder engagement and communication plan.
    • Lead the planning and execution of multiple stakeholder engagement activities, including meetings, written documents, and other activities throughout the grant period.
    • Lead the development of a technical assistance plan on for various health workforce topics for community-based training sites in rural and underserved areas.
    • Lead the development of an annual web-based communication platform (website) plan.
    • Plan and execute health workforce workshops, conferences, and other stakeholder or BHW meetings, both virtual and in-person.
    • Lead the planning and execution of annual in-person stakeholder engagement meetings including agenda setting and coordination of applicable subject matter experts.
    • Lead planning and development of pre-recorded or live workshops or other training activities (virtual or in-person).
    • Lead the team in the ongoing upkeep and expansion of a website to collect all related project resources
    • Support task or activity leads in development of materials, communications, and other requirements.

    Supervision

    Directly supervise and manage two full time staff, Training Specialist and Project Coordinator.

    Performs additional duties, as needed.

    Position Requirements

    • BA or BS degree is preferred. Experience may be substituted for a degree.
    • Minimum 4-6 years of relevant experience in the health workforce sector, managing federal workforce programs and providing training and technical assistance to various stakeholder groups.
    • Minimum 3-5 years prior management and supervisory experience.
    • Minimum 4 years of experience designing health related educational materials for adult learners.
    • Minimum 4 years of years of experience in providing trainings and facilitating stakeholder engagement meetings.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in working with federally qualified health centers, preferred.
    • Familiarity with health professions education and training (HP-ET), workforce development in underserved areas, and key federal, national, and state stakeholders involved in these efforts.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, G-Suite, and Sharepoint.
    • Strong team collaboration and creative problem solving skills.
    • WordPress website development and maintenance.
    • E-Learning course design and Instructional design.
    • Data collection, analysis, and quality assurance/improvement.

    Domestic Travel for meetings and conferences, up to 10% annually

    This position is funded through September 2028.
