    Position: NY Connects Education and Outreach Coordinator

    Basic Function:

    The NY Connects Program provides Information and Assistance and Options Counseling/Person-Centered Counseling on Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) for people with disabilities and older adults. The Outreach & Education Coordinator position requires experience in building community connections, public speaking, event coordination, and team supervision. This role requires some travel across boroughs and demands strong organizational and time-management skills. Management experience is strongly preferred.

    Specific Duties:

    • Plan and conduct in-person, off-site, and online workshops and events to educate community partners, consumers, and others with disabilities about Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) and available resources.
    • Develop and maintain organizational charts and Excel spreadsheets to track outreach data and provide timely performance reports to the supervisor.
    • Ensure compliance with the State’s Program Standards for outreach and education.
    • Collaborate with the NY Connects Program Director to review outreach unit performance and identify strategies to overcome barriers and achieve goals.
    • Build and maintain partnerships with content experts, community-based organizations, government agencies, coalitions, and other stakeholders to ensure counselors provide accurate information and referrals.
    • Cultivate cross-referral partnerships by meeting with disability-service agencies, healthcare providers, hospital social workers, home and community-based service providers, and other organizations.
    • Assist in creating and updating educational and outreach materials.
    • Maintain calendars for workshops, training sessions, and outreach events.
    • Supervise and support outreach staff (approximately 4-5 specialists), assisting with planning and executing outreach activities, and collaborating with partner organization staff.
    • Oversee outreach staff training, contribute to curriculum development, and coordinate with borough managers to address skills gaps among benefits counselors and managers.
    • Participate in the New York Connects management team to develop and implement policies, procedures, and workplans ensuring timely completion of short-and long-term goals in line with contract requirements.
    • Contribute to the NY Connects Resource Directory by linking agency resources developed through workshops and community outreach.
    • Order and manage outreach materials, maintaining inventory for reorders.
    • Travel within all five boroughs to attend outreach events and other program activities.
    • Attend occasional outreach events during nights and weekends.
    • Participate in agency in-service training, unit meetings, and other organizational activities.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Education and Training:

    BA or BS Degree with at least 3 years of supervisory experience.

    Experience:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Prior management experience strongly preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and internet research.
    • Ability to learn new applications and database systems quickly.
    • Strong interpersonal skills; able to interact professionally with consumers and colleagues.
    • Able to work independently and collaboratively.
    • Comfortable working respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
    • Experience providing workshops and conducting community outreach.
    • Knowledge of long-term services and supports and public benefits.
    • Understanding of, or experience with, disability-related issues.
    • Ability to travel throughout all five NYC Boroughs.
    • Bilingual skills preferred.

    Travel demands:

    The position is based in the Manhattan office, with a current schedule of 3 days in-office and 2 days remote/in the field. Occasional travel to other offices and outreach sites within NYC is required.

    Salary:

    Up to $66,000 + Excellent Benefits Package
