    Description

    The Southern Environmental Law Center is seeking an Individual Giving Coordinator in our Charleston, SC or Charlottesville, VA office. This individual will join our Development team and report to our Director of Individual Giving. The Individual Giving Coordinator will coordinate virtual donor engagement efforts, internal communications, and project tracking across the Individual Giving team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly successful, nationally recognized organization that is effectively addressing some of the most pressing and challenging environmental issues throughout the South and the nation.

    The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at translating large volumes of information into clear, actionable steps for optimal cross-team collaboration.

    SELC has a hybrid work model that offers employees the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week. This is a full-time non-exempt position, and employees must reside in our region. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a criminal background check.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provide administrative and logistical support to the Director of Individual Giving and the Individual Giving and Events teams by coordinating tasks and timelines related to donor engagement and initiatives.
    • Serve as the primary coordinator for digital events, including webinars and virtual donor engagements. These duties include but are not limited to scheduling, vendor coordination, and day-of execution.
    • Maintain and update project boards in Monday.com to ensure tasks, deadlines, and deliverables are progressing on schedule.
    • Communicate timely and relevant updates regarding deadlines and deliverables.
    • Track online event invitation responses and provide overall project coordination for development events.
    • Communicate timely and relevant updates to the Development Officer team about organizational and program-related news, and relevant initiatives.
    • Proactively identify potential delays or issues in project workflows and relay updates or adjustments to appropriate team members.
    • Assist in maintaining the annual fundraising events calendar.
    • Serve as secondary support for the Events and Engagement Manager regarding in-person events.
    • Serve as the primary project coordinator for special initiatives for the Individual Giving and Events team.
    • Other duties as assigned that support the success of events and individual giving programs

    Required Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of experience in event planning, fundraising, or a related field.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
    • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
    • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
    • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required for donor and volunteer events.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience coordinating digital events or webinars.
    • Experience with CRM systems and event management platforms.
    • Experience with project management software (i.e. Monday.com).
    • Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    SELC offers salaries competitive with other leading environmental nonprofits nationally and provides an excellent benefits package. The starting salary range for this position is $64,000 – $74,400, commensurate with experience. For more details about our benefits package, please visit our Careers page.

    SELC is a PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness) eligible employer.

    SELC will also provide relocation reimbursement for those relocating for an SELC position, up to a specific dollar amount and contingent on the move being at least 50 miles from the current primary address.

    Parental Leave: SELC employees are entitled to 12 weeks of paid parental leave following childbirth or adoption. Once available parental leave has been used, parents of new children have the additional option of requesting to return to work on a reduced schedule for up to 12 weeks.
