    Reports to: Director of Development

    Location: Hybrid - Candidates should be based in the DC metro area as in-person staff meetings and event(s) attendance is required, as well as some local coordination for events, donor meetings and other responsibilities.

    FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-Time

    Position Summary

    The Senior Development Officer (SDO) is a key role on Brem Foundation’s development team, responsible for the strategic execution of Brem’s fundraising efforts. This position blends high-level planning with hands-on implementation across events, individual giving, foundation relations, corporate partnerships, and development operations. Reporting to the Director of Development, the SDO will work to drive revenue growth while managing an individual and corporate portfolio and overseeing critical aspects of the development function.

    This is an ideal position for a seasoned development professional with 6–8 years of experience and significant event experience. The ideal candidate for this role is ready to close gifts, manage cross-functional initiatives and operate with a high level of independence.

    Key Responsibilities

    Development Strategy & Leadership

    • In collaboration with the Director of Development, project manage the execution of Brem’s annual development plan
    • Monitor and evaluate performance against fundraising goals
    • Serve as a thought partner with the Director of Development on revenue growth strategy

    Individual Giving & Stewardship

    • Manage a portfolio of annual fund and mid-level donors and support moves management
    • Develop and work with the Director of Development to assign donor portfolios; manage and refine donor pipeline strategy
    • Conduct prospect research and prepare briefing materials
    • Write and coordinate fundraising appeals (print, digital, social) and donor communications
    • Oversee Brem’s monthly giving program, including upgrade/acquisition campaigns and donor touchpoints

    Spring Gala

    • With oversight from the Director of Development, lead planning and logistics for spring fundraiser, Brem’s premier annual event, in partnership with event production team, all signature fundraising events and community driven events
    • Develop sponsorship packages and secure event-based sponsorships
    • Ensure event platforms (registration, ticketing, giving) are optimized and functional

    Community Driven Events

    • Design and implement peer-to-peer and crowd funding campaign strategies and toolkits
    • Support volunteer fundraisers and track campaign performance for optimization

    Corporate Partnerships & Cause Marketing

    • Manage a portfolio of corporate donors ($5K - $25K) in collaboration with CEO, including supporting Brem’s Corporate Advisory Council
    • Develop and deliver sponsorship benefits, partner communications, quarterly e-newsletter, and plan and execute an annual in-person round table discussion
    • Create marketing materials for campaigns and recognition
    • Develop and oversee strategic partnerships with for profit national and local businesses to donate a portion of sales to Brem

    Foundation Relations

    • Prospect and qualify new foundation opportunities
    • Coordinate and project manage the grant application and reporting process
    • Draft, finalize and submit 10–15 proposals and reports annually with support from the Operations Associate
    • Maintain grants calendar and proposal development

    Development Operations & CRM

    • Serve as the CRM “super user” and administrator for the fundraising team
    • Oversee donor data entry, reporting, gift acknowledgment, and reconciliation with finance with support from Operations Associate
    • Maintain data integrity and develop progress-to-goal dashboards
    • Project manage direct mail and digital appeal logistics, segmentation, and timelines
    • Oversee the Impact Report and partner with graphic designer to execute

    Qualifications

    • 6–8 years of nonprofit development experience, with a strong focus on events and corporate sponsorships. Individual giving a plus.
    • Proven success managing donor pipelines, fundraising events, and CRM systems (Bloomerang, Salesforce or similar and email marketing software)
    • Excellent event, project management, organizational, and communication skills
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing tasks, and think strategically
    • Strong writing skills for donor communications and grant applications
    • Experience managing donor databases, reports, and fundraising analysis
