    Description

    The Executive Director (ED) is the leader responsible for overseeing the overall operations, strategic direction, and growth of the organization. This role involves managing Reclaim RI’s Steering Committee and volunteer leadership, cultivating relationships with partners and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with all legal and financial obligations, and executing programs that advance our mission. A central component of the ED’s role is to oversee and implement an effective political education program that engages members, develops their concrete leadership and organizing skills, and enhances their understanding of class power, current political forces, and effective social movements.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the organization, aligning activities with mission and organizational goals.
    • Oversee day-to-day operations across all organizational departments, including programs, budget development, communications, and finance.
    • Work with volunteer leaders to develop and implement a comprehensive political education program for members to increase knowledge, engagement, and organizing capacity.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with political, community, and organizational partners and funders.
    • Ensure compliance with all legal, financial, and administrative requirements for both the 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities.
    • Supervise and support staff in coordination with the Organizing Director, fostering a positive, inclusive organizational culture.
    • Track and evaluate the impact of programs and activities, adjusting strategies to maximize effectiveness.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in nonprofit leadership and political/community/labor organizing within left social movements.
    • Strong understanding of the distinctions and operational requirements of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement educational and member engagement programs.
    • Highly developed left political analysis.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Fundraising and financial management experience.
    • Ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships and networks.
