    PURPOSE OF POSITION: To ensure the implementation of each Youth’s ITP, to ensure that the Youth Care Workers are actively involved in the implementation of Youths' educational, employment and treatment goals, to monitor all Program communication, i.e. log entries, incident reports, phone/written communication to supervisor, families and to external bodies, to provide supervision for staff, Youth, and space (milieu/grounds), to provide for adequate 24 hour coverage of program.

    In this Role, you will:

    • Support and implement the policy and philosophy of the Agency and program.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to one’s personal and professional growth, i.e., training.
    • Participate in supervision meetings with supervisor.
    • Responsible for training new Youth Care Staff and monitoring ongoing compliance with HR required trainings and paperwork.
    • Provide weekly supervision to Youth Care Workers noted above. Offer support and feedback to direct reports, conduct performance evaluations and use progressive discipline when necessary.
    • Ensure team members are trained, understand and practically applying the concepts of the Mercy Model in their work with the youth and families and with their co-workers.
    • Learn, align with, and execute the treatment philosophies, modalities and practices of the Agency.
    • Be responsible for (or accessible to advise on) the use of de-escalation and behavior management techniques as outlined in CPI protocol.
    • Work collaboratively with other Youth Program departments.
    • Ensure Youth Care coverage for all shifts.
    • Provide flexibility with own schedule when necessary.
    • Ensure that Staff are held accountable for their responsibilities.
    • Be able to read, analyze, and interpret professional periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations.

    What we need from you:

    • Bachelor’s Degree required; or at least 5 years of Mercy Home residential experience with demonstrated competence in the Mercy Model of Care and Program leadership.
    • Master’s Degree preferred in psychology, social work, sociology, or an acceptable Human Services Degree as determined by DCFS rule 401.
    • Experience working in a residential setting or a high-energy work environment with staff and youth.
    • Ability to work two to three nights per week, until at least 9:00 p.m. or 9:30 p.m., depending on the needs of the specific program.
    • Ability to be on-call (responsibility shared with Program Manager) in order to support program needs
    • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team approach model.
    • Experience in residential treatment.
    • Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license, ability to drive a van, maintain a clear driving record, and retain driving approval through the Department of Children and Family Services.
    • Regular and predictable attendance.
    • Ability to work both independently and as an active team member.
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Must exhibit an appreciation and respect for a diverse work environment, inclusive of youth, families and co-workers from many social, economic, cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
    • Ability to maintain professional demeanor while exercising judgment and discretion in work.
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and professional journals. Ability to write reports and correspondence.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to become proficient in other software packages and programs.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to learn, understand and carry out the key principles of the Mercy Model.
    • Ability to attend required Agency trainings (including CPR/ First Aid and Crisis Prevention Institute Training) and maintain necessary training compliance. Flexibility to attend daytime trainings or sessions outside of regularly scheduled hours.
    • Promote, support and role model the use of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) theory and practice for all co-workers in de-escalating situations.

    Basics Information / Schedule Details

    This job is a full-time position. The schedule is Monday - Friday working two to three nights a week until 9pm-9:30pm and on-call if needed

    Pay range is between $56,300-$58,000/year
