    Position Summary

    The Development Specialist will be a critical part of PWN-USA’s efforts to ensure long-term financial sustainability by supporting and expanding the organization’s fundraising efforts. This position will focus on prospect research, grant writing, donor stewardship, fundraising campaigns, and development systems management. The Development Specialist will report to the Director of Finance and Operations and work collaboratively across departments to help build a culture of philanthropy.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fund Development & Donor Stewardship (60%)

    • Conduct research on prospective individual, foundation, and corporate donors.
    • Draft compelling grant proposals, LOIs, and reports in collaboration with program staff.
    • Maintain grant reporting calendar and ensure timely submission of materials.
    • Support the design and implementation of donor engagement strategies, including cultivation events, campaigns, and acknowledgments.
    • Track individual giving and help expand the base of grassroots donors.

    Development Systems & Communications (25%)

    • Maintain and update donor database (e.g., FlipCause, ActBlue, EveryAction, Salesforce).
    • Work with Communications staff to create donor-facing materials.
    • Coordinate year-end fundraising campaigns and Giving Tuesday efforts.
    • Track development analytics and prepare internal reports.
    • Support the Co-EDs in preparing materials for funder meetings and donor engagement.

    Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Special Projects (15%)

    • Collaborate with Policy, Organizing, Comms, and Training teams to tell powerful stories and align fundraising with organizational strategy.
    • Support fee-for-service and merch-based fundraising initiatives.
    • Participate in internal staff meetings and cross-team initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Minimum 2 years of fundraising, grant writing, or development experience.
    • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with attention to detail.
    • Familiarity with fundraising platforms and donor database management.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
    • Deep commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice.
    • Comfort working in a remote, cross-functional team environment.

    Preferred:

    • Knowledge of the HIV sector and/or lived experience with HIV.
    • Experience in a BIPOC-led, feminist, or grassroots social justice organization.
    • Understanding of the philanthropic landscape for health equity and movement-building.
    • Proficiency with Google Suite, Zoom, and CRM systems.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • 100% FTE. Annual gross pay is $55,000-65,000.
    • MSC’s 100% FTE benefits package includes:
    • 20 days vacation leave per year;
    • 12 standard holidays and 2 personal days per year;
    • 12 sick days per year;
    • 1 week paid MSC family and medical leave after one year of service; an additional week of paid leave for each additional year of service, up to 4 weeks;
