    Founded in 2012, The Acceleration Project (TAP)’s mission is to empower under-resourced small business owners and accelerate their success by providing high-impact and customized strategic, financial, operational, and marketing support. Small businesses are a vital engine of our economy, and TAP supports entrepreneurs who lack access to critical networks and resources. TAP has worked directly with more than 11,000 small business owners and touched the lives of more than 100,000.

    Role Overview:

    We are seeking a passionate and experienced Grant Writer to help advance our mission to promote economic independence to under-resourced small businesses by securing strategic funding. In this contractor role, you will play a vital role in enabling TAP to expand its reach and deepen its support for small business entrepreneurs. The ideal candidate is a skilled storyteller and strategist, capable of crafting compelling grant proposals for funding opportunities. This role requiring approximately 7 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours based on organizational needs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Research, write, edit, and submit persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports that clearly convey TAP’s mission, programs, and impact
    • Collaborate with program staff, finance, and leadership to gather data, outcomes, and financial information necessary for proposals
    • Maintain a library of organizational assets, including boilerplate content, case studies, metrics, and stories to support grant writing
    • Track deadlines and submission schedules, ensuring timely completion of proposals and reports via grant tracking system.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Communications, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management)
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of proven grant writing experience with a strong track record of securing funding for nonprofit organizations
    • Demonstrated success with foundation, corporate, and/or government grants
    • Excellent writing, research, editing, and communication skills with strong attention to detail
    • Experience using funder research tools such as Foundation Directory Online, Grants.gov, or similar platforms
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities while collaborating with a remote team
    • Familiarity with economic development, small business support, or capacity-building work preferred

    Compensation:

    • $40 per hour. This is a contractor position.
