    Description

    Project 2029 is a three-year initiative to bring together bold ideas that create the governing agenda for America’s next bright chapter. The Executive Director will guide this project on a day-to-day basis in all its aspects until its culmination in 2027.

    Project 2029 is being run under the auspices of Democracy: A Journal of Ideas, a non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)3 that for the past two decades has been devoted to generating big ideas and spurring important debates from across the liberal spectrum.

    The Executive Director role requires an individual with a deep knowledge and understanding of the intricacies of international, domestic, and economic policy thinking. This individual will work with the leadership of Democracy, the Project 2029 Advisory Board and Steering Committees, and thought leaders from across America to develop and share the Project 2029 agenda. Responsibilities will include:

    • Researching current scholarship with an eye towards new, different, and compelling policy ideas.
    • Lead the development and communication of a policy agenda across all aspects of public policy including national security, economic, health care, education, housing, and others.
    • Build and maintain trusted relationships with elected officials, public policy thought leaders, coalition allies, and other external stakeholders.
    • Represent Project 2029 in media appearances and public events.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • They should be familiar with policymaking processes at the federal, state, and local levels and have established relationships with key experts in the field.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 7-10 years of deep policy experience.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills.
    • A deep familiarity with the intricacies of American policymaking and politics.
    • Key high level relationships across the national policy making landscape, including institutions of higher education, think tanks and foundations.
