    CASE MANAGER/COUNSELOR POSITION

    About Riverside Immigrant Services & Empowerment

    Riverside Immigrant Services & Empowerment (Riverside) is an immigrant integration

    center that supports the economic mobility and social inclusion of newly arrived

    immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in New York City. Our mission is to help new

    immigrants successfully integrate into life in the U.S. We do this by providing free,

    full-time immersive English language instruction, wrap-around case management and

    counseling, and incorporating workforce development skills, digital literacy, and civics

    into daily instruction. These supports and skills ensure that Riverside participants are

    better positioned to access job training, employment, and higher education and become

    active community members.

    The Role

    We're seeking a compassionate, full-time, bilingual Case Manager/Counselor to join our

    team. In this role, you'll provide vital counseling services to immigrant participants,

    assess their needs, and connect them with essential resources including education/job

    training, legal services, health and mental health care, housing, and government benefits.

    Through a strengths-based approach, you'll help participants overcome barriers and

    achieve their personal and professional goals.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver supportive counseling to participants in our full-time, six-week ESOL class

    cycles (Monday-Friday, 9 am - 3 pm)

    • Conduct comprehensive one-on-one assessment interviews with new program

    participants

    • Evaluate participants' education and work history, support service needs, and

    barriers to achieving career, education, and personal outcomes

    • Collaborate with participants to develop actionable individual plans with clear

    steps toward short and long-term goals

    • Connect participants with internal and external resources including legal services,

    financial assistance, childcare, education opportunities, job training, healthcare,

    housing, and public benefits

    • Build and nurture relationships with city agencies, non-profits, and

    academic/training programs to facilitate effective referrals

    • Outreach to other community based organization and city services to explore new

    partnerships that respond to emerging participant needs

    • Support with Riverside programing (Workforce Development program and

    Mentorship Program, Lunch Program) as well as with special activities ( clothes

    drive and fundraising events, etc)

    • Conduct regular follow-up meetings to track participants' progress and maintain

    detailed notes

    • Maintain accurate participant records and enter data into required databases for

    government contract reporting

    • Support outreach and enrollment efforts, assist with assessment testing, and

    perform necessary data entry

    • Contribute to other organizational initiatives as needed

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education,

    or related field

    • Minimum two years of experience in a social service organization providing case

    management or counseling services

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Demonstrated commitment to supporting immigrant and refugee communities
    • Knowledge of public benefits and resources available to immigrants in New York

    City (preferred)

    • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication abilities
    • Cultural competence and ability to engage effectively with participants from

    diverse backgrounds

    • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to work

    independently

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
    • Fluency in English and at least one other language commonly spoken by immigrant

    communities in NYC

    Compensation & Benefits

    Salary range: $50,000 - $55,000 annually with comprehensive benefits package.
