    What is our mission and how do we achieve it?

    Cathleen Stone Island Outward Bound’s core mission is to build stronger, more equitable school communities by partnering with public schools to deliver free experiential learning programs to students that will boost academic success and foster personal growth.

    We offer programs for Boston Public School middle school and high school students, fee-for-service programs for school and youth groups, and leadership development programs for professionals. We also fund our transformational programs by hosting private and corporate events and weddings.

    Position Summary

    The Development Data and Reporting Manager is responsible for the CSIOBS Development CRM, Raisers Edge NXT database and has oversight of all donor information. They are responsible for the accurate and judicious operation of our fundraising database, ensuring that data are recorded and maintained so that they are correct, up-to-date, and consistent with reporting needs. Responsibilities include gift processing and donor acknowledgement, constituent data management, event registration, and tracking fundraising activity and communications. The Chief Advancement Officer and members of the Development team are evaluating a potential CRM migration from Raisers Edge NXT to Salesforce. Experience with both platforms and data migration projects a plus!

    The Development Data and Reporting Manager supports direct mail, online, event, and other fundraising strategies; recommending, implementing, and managing the support of our database, applications, and infrastructure; establishing and developing department processes and procedures; tracking and reporting performance measures; and managing the day-to-day operation and usage of Raiser’s Edge for both fundraising and organization-wide initiatives. The Development Data and Reporting Manager reports to the Director of Development Operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Gift Processing & Donor Acknowledgment

    • Accurately process daily and recurring gifts, pledges, and event registrations in the donor database.
    • Generate and track acknowledgment letters, tribute notifications, and stewardship communications in a timely manner.
    • Manage pledge reminders, matching gift requests, and gift adjustments as needed.
    • Maintain secure handling of donor payment information in compliance with PCI standards.

    Database & Data Integrity

    • Serve as the primary administrator for the donor CRM (Raiser's Edge NXT), maintaining accurate and complete records for all constituents. Experience with Salesforce a plus.
    • Develop and document policies for data entry, coding, and reporting to ensure consistency across the organization.
    • Conduct regular audits, clean-up projects, and updates (including NCOA address updates and deceased record checks).
    • Coordinate with finance staff on monthly reconciliations and annual audits.

    Reporting & Analysis

    • Build and maintain standard fundraising reports and dashboards for leadership, board, and staff.
    • Create custom queries and exports for appeals, e-newsletters, and event invitations.
    • Track campaign performance, donor retention, and engagement metrics to inform strategy.

    Systems & Process Improvement

    • Collaborate with staff to optimize database use across fundraising, events, alumni relations, and marketing.
    • Stay current on software updates and emerging tools, recommending enhancements where appropriate.
    • Support integration of the CRM with online giving, email marketing, and event registration platforms.

    Event & Campaign Support

    • Provide registration and data support for annual fundraising events, including the Gala and community paddles.
    • Assist with guest list management, seating charts, and on-site registration check-in.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
    • 3+ years’ experience managing a fundraising database (Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar).
    • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality in handling donor information.
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience creating queries, reports, and mail merges.
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, customer-service mindset.
    • Commitment to the mission of Outward Bound and enthusiasm for outdoor experiential education.
    • Flexibility to occasionally work evenings and weekends for events.

    Location & Other Requirements

    This salaried position will require occasional night and weekend work. Administrative staff at CSIOBS work a hybrid schedule. Employees work out of our local office in Boston’s Seaport Neighborhood. Occasionally you will be required to go to our island in Boston Harbor for events, meetings, and trainings. Ferry transportation will be provided. A criminal background check is required for this position.

    Compensation

    This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary of $65,000 per year.
