    Your Role as an Instructor

We are looking for someone with a desire to work with kids and a willingness to learn. While a STEM background is a plus, it is not a requirement—Classroom Management is the key to success. We value lived experience and are ready to support your professional development.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Facilitate groups of up to 15 students in classes focused on science, technology, engineering and math enrichment
    • Take part in Youth Program Quality Assurance process to continue to improve SPIN programming in collaboration with Baldwin and Seattle Parks & Recreation
    • In collaboration with on-site team, provide needed reporting materials to SPIN and to our funding partners
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
    • Attend required training and check-ins, maintain attendance and discipline records, administer and submit pre and post survey data.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Comfort with technology. Willingness to learn new subjects.
    • Experience with class management and/or willingness to learn
    • Outstanding time management and organizational skills
    • Committed to providing all kids with equal education opportunities.

    PREFERRED CANDIDATES

    • Will have experience working with low-income students, including those in Title 1 schools, and a familiarity with the unique gifts and needs of such a population.

    Application Process

Please send your resume and cover letter to hiring (at) stempaths (dot) org . In lieu of a cover letter, feel free to send any other document: collage, spoken word piece, etc that helps us get to know you! Even if you feel like you do not have all the necessary requirements please reach out anyway. We would love to speak with you.

    REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS

The Americans with Disability Act of 1990 (ADA) makes it unlawful to discriminate against a qualified individual with a disability in all parts of the employment process. You may request reasonable accommodations at any time. The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

    BACKGROUND CHECK

A criminal history background check may be conducted on the final candidate prior to beginning employment. Those who supervise other staff, those who work with minors and/or other vulnerable populations either inside or outside of the organization, and those who have access to the organization’s funds will be asked to complete a background check. A criminal background will not automatically eliminate you from consideration.

    EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER

SPIN is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE). Qualified applicants are considered for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran status, or any other class protected by law. Assistance and/or reasonable accommodations during the application process are available to individuals upon request.

    Benefits

As a part-time position, benefits are not included.
