About Us

At Partners for Public Good (PPG), we believe that when government works, communities thrive. Launched in March 2025, we are a fast-growing nonprofit dedicated to helping state and local governments harness core operational functions – procurement, staffing, digital infrastructure, and budgeting – to drive public impact.

Our journey began in 2011 at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Government Performance Lab, where we set out to transform public procurement. Since then, we’ve worked with hundreds of governments across the country to make their procurement systems more efficient, fair, results-driven, and strategic. In 2022, we launched the Procurement Excellence Network, putting our tools and strategies in the hands of over two thousand public servants.

Position Overview

Partners for Public Good (PPG) seeks a visionary, analytical leader to serve as its Director of Strategy and Impact. This role drives the execution of PPG’s organizational strategy—turning programmatic work into actionable insights, shaping innovative initiatives, and crafting compelling narratives that advance our mission and theory of change. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Director is a key member of the senior leadership team and plays a critical role in aligning work across organizational verticals. By leveraging data, evidence, and storytelling, this leader will strengthen organizational effectiveness, amplify impact, and support long-term financial sustainability. The ideal candidate brings exceptional analytical skills, proven experience in strategic facilitation, and an understanding of both government operations as well as the philanthropic and policy ecosystems that influence them.

Key Responsibilities

Impact Measurement & Evaluation

• In collaboration with programmatic leadership and in alignment with organizational goals, develop and implement org-wide impact measurement frameworks grounded in both quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting to track outcomes across programs and initiatives.
• Build organizational dashboards and KPIs to monitor progress toward programmatic, operational, and development goals.
• Synthesize evaluation insights to inform strategic decision-making and improve program effectiveness.

Strategic Planning and Research & Development

• Spearhead the process for the organization’s first formal strategic plan, and collaborate with the COO and senior leadership to execute on the plan.
• Lead research and analysis to conceptualize and prioritize new areas for programmatic expansion, innovation, and operational improvement aligned with PPG’s mission, goals, and theory of change.
• Support the COO in assessing risks, opportunities, and strategic pivots to drive PPG’s mission and organizational goals and prioritize.
• Facilitate cross-functional processes like strategic planning sessions, helping to leverage synergies and facilitate alignment, learning, and impactful collaboration across teams.

Narrative and Thought Leadership

• Translate complex information and field insights into compelling narratives for funders, policymakers, and other key stakeholders, helping to showcase impact relevant to different audiences and advance PPG’s public image.
• Support the development of reports, case studies, communications assets, and other external-facing materials in collaboration with other leaders across the team.

Stakeholder Engagement and Growth

• Forge and cultivate stakeholder relationships to further organizational goals and amplify impact, collaborating with program and operations leadership to leverage CRM tools and sector networks.
• Work closely with senior leadership to align impact storytelling with fundraising and public communications goals.
• Craft and lead teamwork to submit new funding proposals and funder reports to execute on programmatic expansion priorities.
• Represent PPG at conferences and events.

Organizational Leadership

• All members of the senior leadership team are expected to collaborate with fellow Directors, Vice President, COO, and CEO on organizational strategy, priorities, and programmatic initiatives.
• Lead and support resource planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Positively shape organizational culture across all PPG operations.

• Change catalysts. You are experienced at driving organizational change and innovation initiatives, shifting culture, and building capacity among diverse stakeholder groups.

Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in strategy, impact measurement, evaluation, management consulting or related fields in a nonprofit, philanthropy, government, and/or social impact setting.
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a related field.
• Strong analytical skills, with experience designing and implementing evaluation frameworks.
• Demonstrated project management skills and ability to lead strategic planning processes and organizational growth initiatives.
• Excellent communication and writing skills, with experience translating complex data and policy or operational concepts into compelling narratives.
• Ability to engage and influence high-level stakeholders, including funders, board members, government leaders, and partners, and cultivate fruitful business development opportunities.
• Experience managing cross-functional projects and aligning teams around strategic goals.

Compensation & Benefits: The salary for this role is $165,000 plus benefits. We offer a comprehensive, people-first benefits package to support the well-being of our team and their families. We offer medical, dental, and vision insurance, with multiple plan options to fit individual needs as well as access to health and flexible savings accounts. Paid time off includes: 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, 2 floating holidays, 12 paid holidays, and a winter recess. We also provide an employer match for retirement savings, paid parental leave, and access to backup care for caregiving needs. To support remote work, we offer work-from-home stipends or shared office space options.

Start date: The desired start date for this role is November or December 2025.
