    The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is looking to hire a qualified candidate for the position of Human Resources Assistant for our Human Resources Department in White Plains, NY.

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Human Resources Generalist, the Human Resources Assistant is a detail-oriented and proactive individual who will support the daily operations of our HR department. The ideal candidate will handle administrative tasks, ensure accurate record-keeping, and assist in the implementation of HR policies and procedures. This role is essential in maintaining the efficiency and organization of the HR function across the organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the day-to-day operations of the HR department.
    • Maintain and update employee records, databases, and documentation both digitally and physically.
    • Assist in onboarding and offboarding processes including preparation of new hire packets and exit documentation.
    • Help support the recruitment process by screening resumes and candidates, coordinating interviews and collecting records of candidate assessment reports
    • Prepare and distribute HR-related correspondence such as employment letters, offer letters, wage notices, changes in statuses and memos.
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies and labor regulations regarding employee files and data protection.
    • Assist with payroll data, benefits administration and leave as needed.
    • Support training and development initiatives by organizing sessions and tracking participation.
    • Serve as the first point of contact for general HR inquiries and escalate issues when necessary.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred.

    Experience:

    • 1–2 years of experience in an HR or administrative support role.

    Licensing and/or Certifications:

    • N/A

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with HRIS systems is an advantage.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

    Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently lifts and moves up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions. The employee works in varied client-based environments per assigned caseload.
